Product Description

This social story unit teaches students how to be kind using clear visuals, discussion, and coping strategies. Students learn to identify kind and unkind behaviors and practice positive ways to interact with friends, classmates, teachers, and other adults.

This “We Are Kind” resource is designed to support social skills, behavior, and emotional regulation in a structured and engaging way. It is especially helpful for special education classrooms, autism support classrooms, social skills groups, counseling lessons, and behavior intervention.

This unit includes an interactive adapted book, task cards for discussion and review, coping strategies visuals, and a reflection page to help students connect the lesson to their own behavior choices.

The adapted book provides a fun and interactive way for students of all abilities to participate in learning strategies for being kind, or being a better friend.

Sample Text:

"We don't scream.

We're not rude.

We don't give an attitude.

Keep in mind. We are kind.

We don't mock.

We don't tease.

We don't bother friends with ease.

Keep in mind. We are kind."

After the teacher or therapist has read the book with students, students can complete the task cards and discuss them as a group.

There is also a set of "Ways to Be Kind" posters/or visuals that are designed to serve as visual reinforcers.

If your students enjoy and benefit from these activities, there are many more adapted books in my collection. Please see the complete adapted book collection below.
