Social Story Unit | We Don’t Hurt Others | Coping Strategies is a hands-on social skills resource for preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten, special education, autism classrooms, speech therapy, school counseling, and behavior support. This interactive unit helps students learn that hurtful or aggressive behavior is not okay and teaches safer, more appropriate coping strategies for handling anger, frustration, and conflict.
This printable set includes 1 interactive adapted book, 20 task cards for practice and review, 16 full-color coping strategy visuals/posters, and a reflection sheet for discussing behavior and making better choices. It works especially well in small groups, social skills lessons, calm-down areas, counseling settings, and independent workstations where students need support with self-regulation, social problem-solving, and positive behavior.
This unit works well as a small group activity and especially with social skills groups because the activities are designed to foster conversations about using coping strategies at school instead of using physical aggression.
The adapted book provides a fun and interactive way for students of all abilities to participate in learning strategies for coping with anger and aggression.

After the teacher or therapist has read the book with students, students can complete the task cards and discuss them as a group.
There is also a set of "Ways We Cope" posters/or visuals that are designed to serve as visual reinforcers.
