Ocean Emotions Sorting Activities | Feelings & SEL Activities | PreK Autism SPED
Product Description
These Ocean Emotions Sorting Activities give students a fun, hands-on way to practice identifying emotions and sorting facial expressions by feeling. With ocean-themed sorting mats and picture cards, this activity is perfect for social emotional learning, special education, autism classrooms, speech therapy, counseling groups, preschool, Pre-K, and early childhood students.
Students will sort ocean-themed emotion cards onto matching mats as they practice recognizing and naming feelings such as happy, sad, silly, excited, worried, and surprised. This low-prep emotions activity is a great addition to your SEL centers, social skills lessons, task boxes, small groups, morning tubs, independent work stations, or summer/ocean-themed classroom activities.
This ocean emotions sorting set includes 6 unique sorting mats:
- Clam
- Octopus
- Fish
- Crab
- Starfish
- Jellyfish
Students will practice sorting:
- Happy
- Sad
- Silly
- Excited
- Worried
- Surprised
To make the activity easier, give students only two emotion mats at a time. To increase the challenge, add more mats and emotion cards as students become more confident with identifying and sorting feelings.
This activity is especially helpful for students who benefit from visual supports, repeated practice, and hands-on learning. Use it to support emotion recognition, social emotional vocabulary, matching, sorting, visual discrimination, and early social skills.
