Product Description

This Ocean Adapted Book with Activities, The Jiggly Little Jellyfish, is a fun, hands-on ocean literacy resource that helps students practice ocean vocabulary, prepositions, position words, basic comprehension, WH questions, and story sequencing. This interactive adapted book is great for autism, special education, speech therapy, preschool, kindergarten, literacy centers, and small groups.

Students follow along as the jellyfish moves to different positions throughout the story, making this a highly engaging way to target early language and literacy skills. This resource can be used in teacher-led small groups, therapy sessions, literacy centers, or independent workstations.

This download includes:

  • 1 Adapted Book
  • 1 Set of Story Sequencing Strips
  • 1 Hands-On Positions / Prepositions Practice Set
  • 1 Cut and Glue Activity

How to use:

In this activity, the teacher or therapist reads the story while students follow along and move the jellyfish to the correct position on each page. Students can also attach a matching piece to each page for added hands-on practice. At the end of the story, students answer WH comprehension questions by matching the correct answer piece to each question page.

Students working more independently can read through the ocean-themed book and complete the follow-up questions and activities in a literacy center or independent workstation. Several extension activities are also included for extra practice.

Skills targeted:

  • ocean vocabulary
  • prepositions and position words
  • basic comprehension
  • WH questions
  • story sequencing
  • following directions
  • early language and literacy skills

A peek inside the story:

Way down deep, in the dark blue sea...

a jiggly little jellyfish was jiggly as can be.

He jiggled by an octopus
and right under a fish.

He jiggled by a sea star
with a wiggle-jiggle-SWISH!

He jiggled past a puffer fish
and high above a clam.

He jiggled on a sea turtle
and giggled while she swam—TEE-HEE!

This playful story makes practicing prepositions and position words much more meaningful and memorable for young learners.
