Ocean Adapted Book & Prepositions Activities | Swish Fish is a fun, hands-on ocean-themed literacy activity for preschool, Pre-K, kindergarten, special education, autism classrooms, and speech therapy. This interactive resource helps students practice ocean vocabulary, prepositions or position words, WH questions, basic comprehension, and story sequencing through repeated text, rhyme, and active participation.
This printable set includes an interactive adapted book, story sequencing strips, a hands-on prepositions practice activity, and a cut-and-glue extension activity. As the teacher or therapist reads the story, students move the fish into the correct position on each page and match optional picture pieces to the book. At the end, students answer comprehension questions using matching answer pieces. It is a great fit for small groups, literacy centers, workstations, and therapy sessions, especially for students who benefit from visual supports, repetition, and hands-on learning.

In this activity, the teacher or therapist reads the story to a small group of students, as students follow along and move the fish into the correct position on each page. Students can also attach a matching piece to each page (included and optional). At the end of the story, students answer "wh" comprehension questions using the by matching the correct answer piece to each question page.
Students working at an independent level may read through the ocean themed book and work through questions in a literacy center or independent work station. There are several extension activities included for extra practice. (Please see photos and video for details.)
