This Summer Adapted Book, "I See in the Summer," uses real photos and rhyming riddles to teach inferencing, attribute and function vocabulary, and listening comprehension. Students use the clues in each riddle to identify the summer object and select the correct real-photo matching piece — building one of the highest-priority year-round SLP IEP goals through a hands-on, playful format.

How to Use:

In a small group, the teacher or therapist reads each riddle while students use the attribute and function clues to identify the correct summer object, then select the matching real photo. After the book is complete, students use the included extension activity to create their own summer-themed riddles — turning the resource into both a receptive AND expressive language tool. Independent learners can work through the book at a literacy center or workstation.
