Emotions & Feelings Adapted Book 2 | SEL Speech Therapy Special Education
Product Description
The perfect follow-up to Book 1! This second emotions and feelings adapted book focuses on more nuanced, complex emotions that students often struggle to identify and name — calm, shy, embarrassed, scared, bored, and jealous.
Help students build deeper emotional vocabulary, empathy, and self-awareness with relatable real-life scenarios. The repeating predictable text format and visual supports make this resource especially effective for emerging communicators, AAC users, and students who benefit from structured language input.
Perfect for social emotional learning (SEL), speech therapy, special education, autism classrooms, school counseling, and morning meetings.
★ Perfect for: Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs), Special Education Teachers, School Counselors, Autism Classrooms, SEL Lessons, Early Childhood, PreK, Preschool, Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade, Resource Rooms, and Life Skills Classrooms

Sample Text from the Book:
"Feelings are honest and feelings are real. In each situation, how would you feel?"
"It's dark outside and you hear a strange noise. How would you feel?"
"Your best friend is playing with somebody else and didn't invite you. How would you feel?"
How to Use This Emotions Adapted Book:
A teacher, SLP, or counselor reads the book aloud to a small group, whole class, or individual student. As each scenario is presented, students identify which emotion they would feel by selecting from the visual feeling choices. Use as a discussion starter, social skills lesson, SEL morning meeting activity, speech therapy session, or 1:1 emotional regulation work.
Why Book 2 Is a Must-Have:
While Book 1 covers the core emotions (happy, sad, angry, etc.), Book 2 tackles the more complex and harder-to-identify feelings that students often need extra support naming — like the difference between scared and embarrassed, or recognizing jealousy and shyness in themselves and others. These nuanced emotions are critical for advanced perspective taking and social problem solving.
Great for teaching:
- Identifying complex/nuanced emotions
- Emotional vocabulary expansion
- Empathy and perspective taking
- Emotional regulation and self-awareness
- Connecting situations to feelings (cause and effect)
- Social skills and pragmatic language
- Coping skills and problem solving
- Social emotional learning (SEL) standards
- Recognizing emotions in self and others
