Build a Monster Activities | Halloween Cookie Sheet Center | SLP SPED Autism
Product Description
These Build a Monster Center Activities turn a hands-on, open-ended building task into a powerful tool for visual discrimination, replication, and following directions. Students build silly monsters from a set of mix-and-match pieces — either replicating a model card or creating their own. Set it up as a cookie sheet activity, magnet center, or cut-and-glue craft.
👹 Perfect for:
- Speech-Language Pathologists (SLPs) targeting body parts, attributes, descriptive language, and following directions goals
- Special Education teachers building Halloween, fall, or monster-themed centers
- Autism classrooms needing structured, visual building tasks
- Occupational Therapists working on visual discrimination, fine motor skills, and scissor skills
- ABA therapists running match-the-model and replication programs
- Early Childhood, Pre-K, and Kindergarten teachers
- Homeschool families with multi-age learners
🎃 What's Included:
- 1 Background mat
- 12 Build-a-Monster example/model cards
- A large set of mix-and-match monster building pieces (eyes, mouths, arms, legs, accessories) in full color
- 3 setup options: cookie sheet (with magnets), magnet center, or cut-and-glue craft
🎯 Skills Targeted:
Visual discrimination, same and different, replicating a model, attribute vocabulary (color, size, shape, number), body part vocabulary, following 1-step and multi-step directions, fine motor skills, scissor skills, creativity and open-ended play.
How to Use:
Print, laminate, and add magnets to the pieces for a cookie sheet or magnet center. Students choose a model card and replicate the monster on their background mat. To increase difficulty, give students a larger field of pieces to choose from. To decrease difficulty, limit the field to just the needed pieces plus 1–2 distractors. Or set it up as a cut-and-glue craft for a take-home keepsake.
🧟 Ways to Use:
- Cookie sheet activities and magnet centers
- Independent work systems (TEACCH)
- Halloween, fall, or monster thematic units
- Speech therapy following-directions drills ("Give your monster three red eyes and one green arm.")
- ABA discrete trial replication tasks
- OT visual scanning and fine motor sessions
- Morning tubs and early finisher activities
- Cut-and-glue craft for whole-class Halloween parties
