This Adapted Book, "Where is Grizzly Hiding?" is a forest animals themed book that teaches prepositions or positional words and reinforces colors and color words. Students follow a silly bear as he hides among different colored forest animals. This book also works great during a camping unit, because it focuses on animals that students might see while camping.
In this activity, the teacher or therapist reads the story as the students identify the bear's position in relation to the other forest animals on each page. Students will match a position or preposition card to each page as the teacher reads.
Students working at an independent level can work through the book in a workstation or literacy center.
Sample Verse:
"Where is Grizzly hiding?
Where can he be?
He's ________ (over) the gray mouse,
As we can plainly see!"
