"Plant a garden. Watch it grow. Grab the shovel. Grab the hoe!"
The "Plant a Garden Adapted Book," teaches garden themed vocabulary words through simple rhyme and interactive matching pieces.
These Plant a Garden Adapted Book and Vocabulary Activities have now been UPDATED!
This download includes 1 adapted book, 1 sequencing stick activity, 1 sorting/classification activity, 1 positional concepts activity, and 1 set of vocabulary labeling cards.
How to Use It:
In a small group, a teacher or therapist reads the story as students follow along and match a word and picture to each page. After the book is complete, the teacher or therapist can extend the activity to other areas of focus such as sequencing skills, visual discrimination/identification skills, positional concepts skills, and sorting and classification skills by using the included supplemental activities. Students working at an independent level may work through the activities in a work station or literacy center.
Sample Text:
"Plant a garden.
Watch it grow.
Grab the shovel.
Grab the hoe.
Dig in dirt--
And sprinkle seeds
Pour on water.
Pull the weeds."
I plan on updating all of the vocabulary-focused adapted books this year to include each of these activities. I will let you all know as they are complete!
If your students enjoy this activity , there are many more adapted books in my collection. Please see my complete adapted books collection below:
