These Snowmen Adapted Books, "The Snowmen Melted," and "Hungry Hungry Snowman," focus on number identification, number words and basic counting in a fun and interactive way.
In "The Snowmen Melted" students can sing along, find a number and count as all of the snowmen that are melting on a warm and sunny day. This book is sung to the tune "The Ants Go Marching," and a sample verse goes like this:
Sample Verse:
The Snowmen melted 1 by 1, Hoorah! Hoorah!
The Snowmen melted 1 by 1, Hoorah! Hoorrah!
The Snowmen melted 1 by 1, one of them said, "Oh no! The sun!"
And they all went melting down...to the ground...on a warm...sunny day.
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!
The Snowmen melted 2 by 2, Hoorah! Hoorah!
The Snowmen melted 2 by 2, Hoorah! Hoorrah!
The Snowmen melted 2 by 2, one of them said, "I'm hot! Are you?"
And they all went melting down...to the ground...on a warm...sunny day.
Boom, Boom, Boom, Boom!
Students will add a snowman to each page, find and match a number, and continue until all 10 snowmen are melting down to the ground.
There is also a set of clip cards that goes along with this book for extra practice, and a set of puppets included so that students can put the snowmen in number order.
In the second adapted book, "The Hungry Hungry Snowman," our snowman is very hungry and needs to be fed. But which "snowcake" should we feed him? A therapist or teacher will read the book to students, as students follow along and find the correct "snowcake" and feed it to the snowman.
Sample Rhyme:
Hungry Hungry Snowman, ready for some fun.
Feed Snowman "snowcake" number one.
Hungry Hungry Snowman--he wants to eat a few.
Feed Snowman "snowcake" number two.
