This Winter Adapted Book, "Where is the Hat?" is fun and interactive winter themed adapted book that focuses on basic winter and snowman themed vocabulary, matching skills, position words, Wh-questions, and sequencing story events.
In this interactive activity, a teacher or therapist reads the story, as students follow along and match a picture piece to each page. At the end of the story, students answer basic comprehension questions by choosing the correct answer piece that goes with each page.
Students working at an independent level can read and work through the book at a literacy center or independent work station. The book includes plenty of repetitive text and rhyme for beginning readers.
In this silly winter story, there is trouble at the cabin. Bobby's winter hat has gone missing and none of the "friends" can seem to find it!
Sample Text:
"Where is the hat? Where did it go?
Bobby tried to find it, but he really didn't know!
He looked beside the cabin and he said,
"Imagine that???!"
He found a mound of snowballs, but he didn't find the fat!
"Where is the hat? Where did it go?
Moose tried to find it, but he really didn't know!
He looked above the cabin and he said,
"Imagine that???!"
He found a pair of earmuffs, but he didn't find the hat!
This book also includes a bonus, "Sequencing Stick" activity. After the story, students practice sequencing events of the story on a paint stirrer. (See photos for details.)
