This Halloween Adapted Book, "The Scary Little Witch" is super-fun and interactive Halloween story that focuses on basic Halloween vocabulary, matching skills, Wh-questions, and sequencing story events.
In this activity, a teacher or therapist reads the story, as students follow along and match a picture piece to each page. At the end of the story, students answer basic comprehension questions by choosing the correct answer piece that goes with each page.
Students working at an independent level can read and work through the book at a literacy center or independent work station.
Sample Text:
"One dark night, when it was time to trick or treat,
a scary little witch was scaring people on the street.
She scared a little vampire.
And she scared a little bat.
She scared a little wizard in a pointy, purple hat!"
(Oh and this book is not scary--it's meant to be cute!) ;)
This book also includes a bonus, "Sequencing Stick" activity. After the story, students practice sequencing events of the story on a paint stirrer. (See photos for details.)
