This Weather Adapted Book With Real Photos focuses on identifying different types of weather and making inferences. Students will solve a riddle by listening to a clue and identify objects by attribute, feature or function.
In this activity, the teacher or therapist reads through the book with students as students solve each riddle by identifying the type of weather that fits the description.
Sample Text:
"I see. I see.
What can it be?
It's the liquid that falls from the clouds and refills our lakes, rivers and streams.
(Students find the picture and turn the page to see the answer revealed.)
It's rain.
That's right!
Rain is the liquid that falls from the clouds and refills our lakes, rivers and streams.
After the students have worked through the book, there is an extension activity included where they can practice creating their own weather themed riddles. Students working independently may work through the book at a literacy center.
