This Summer Adapted Book And Activities, "Ten Little Fireflies" focuses on counting, identifying numbers and number words, simple addition (plus one) the concept of up/down and high/low.

In this activity, the teacher or therapist reads the story to a small group of students, as students follow counting the fireflies and matching a number and number word to each page. Students will also "catch" a firefly on each page and put it "in the jar."
Students working at an independent level may read through the summer themed book and work through questions in a literacy center or independent work station. There are several extension activities included for extra practice. (Please see photos and video for details.)

One flew low, and nine flew high.
Up went the firefly but didn't get far.
Down came the net, and we put in the jar.
