This Community Helpers Adapted Book, "I See People In My Community" (w/Real Photos) focuses on identifying community helpers and making inferences. Students identify people by attribute, feature or job description by listening to a clue and looking at real photos. In this activity, the teacher or therapist reads through the book with students as students try to solve each riddle by identifying the community helper and matching piece that best fits the description. Sample Text: "I see. I see. Who can it be? It's the person who works in a restaurant and cooks lots of delicious food... (Students find the picture and turn the page to see the answer revealed.) It's the chef! That's right! A chef works in a restaurant and cooks lots of delicious food." After the students have worked through the book, there is an extension activity included where they can practice creating their own riddles. Students working independently may work through the book at a literacy center. This adapted book is now part of the Making Inferences Adapted Books Growing Bundle!
