This Thanksgiving Adapted Book, "I See on Thanksgiving" focuses on identifying Thanksgiving themed vocabulary, and making inferences. Students identify objects by attribute, feature or function by listening to a clue, looking at real photos and making an inference.
In this activity, the teacher or therapist reads through the book with students as students try to solve each riddle by identifying the pumpkin themed object and matching piece that best fits the description.
Sample Text:
"I see. I see.
What can it be?
It's usually the main course during Thanksgiving dinner...
(Students find the picture and turn the page to see the answer revealed.)
It's turkey!
That's right!
Turkey is usually the main course during Thanksgiving dinner.
After the students have worked through the book, there is an extension activity included where they can practice creating their own summer themed riddles. Students working independently may work through the book at a literacy center.
